Contracting with Managed Care

These three webinars are intended to help you prepare your organization to contract with managed care or other third party payer of direct services. These webinars have been developed in collaboration with OptumHealth and builds on their seminar and workbook. Primary instructors will be Frances Purdy, Elaine Slaton, Bruce Strahl from the National Federation and Pam Fox from OptumHealth. There are pre-requisites – Once you sign up you will be sent "The Next Step to Sustainability" workbook and powerpoint developed by OptumHealth to read and complete.

    August 24, 2011. 3:00 – 4:30 pm Promoting Family-Driven Care:

    An adaptation of the National Federation’s curriculum, this webinar builds on the Next Step to Sustainability seminar developed by OptumHealth and will prepare family-run organizations to translate family-run organization services into purchasable concepts by health and managed care organizations, addressing issues of incorporating contractual fee-for-services into a family-run organizational structure, and explain contracting with a managed care organization to their governance board.

    September 7, 2011. 3:00 – 4:30 pm Developing Fair Pricing Structures:

    This webinar will instruct use of a administration assessment and pricing tool for developing and marketing the concept “fair return on investment” within the family-run organization and with potential contractors and assessing the administrative infrastructure, including continuous quality assurance, of the family-run organization.

    September 14, 2011. 3:00 – 4:30 pm Continuous Quality Assurance and Managing Outcomes:

    This webinar will assist the family-run organization administrators through the steps necessary in considering all of the liabilities they may face in a contract audit or renewal review, discussion of benefits and risks of product-rate proposals, outcome measurement and other administrative issues they must consider in deciding to seek managed care or other fee-for-services contracts.
