Mental Health America of Oregon is now seeking a temporary, part-time Financial Accountant.
Title or Position: Financial Accountant (Temporary Part-time)
Description of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Manages the financial/accounting functions for MHAO. This is a “hands-on” position that manages and performs day-to-day activities to ensure that all financial/accounting data is collected, recorded, reconciled, balanced and reported regularly i.e. at least monthly. The person in this position prepares a complete set of financial statements and analyses for Management and the Board of Directors. This position is responsible for designing and maintaining internal control systems for all financial/accounting policies, activities, functions, processes, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Financial Accountant Duties & Responsibilities:
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, five years non-profit accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Skills and knowledge required: Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and QuickBooks accounting software. Adept knowledge of basic accounting functions as they relate to payroll, billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger. Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees, contractors, and vendors. Excellent time management skills.
Demonstrated non-profit and/or government sector accounting experience, federal grant financial management experience, excellent communication, training, and collaboration skills. Understanding of the consumer/survivor movement.
Supervisory relationship: The Financial Accountant reports to the Executive Director.
Amount of travel: NA
Hours per Week: This is a .5FTE, salaried, exempt position.
Salary range: $42,000 - 46,000 annual for 1.0 FTE.
$21,000 – 23,000 annual for .5 FTE
