This award is for a National Federation Chapter or State Organization that demonstrates outstanding service and effort. The Making A Difference Award recognizes a family-run organization that uses the power of partnerships, collaboration and grass roots advocacy to improve services, supports and awareness for Children and Youth with Mental Health Challenges and their Families.
The year 1999 marked the first year of the National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health’s Celebration of Youth Award, which was established in memory of Kwame Telesford. This award is given in recognition of youth, challenged with emotional, behavioral or mental health issues, who are building on their strengths and are striving to further their education and life skills. The Celebration of Youth Award scholarship is the result of donations from: the National Federation membership and participants at the National Federation annual conference as well as donations from the fundraising efforts in memory of Mary Telesford. As this award is dependant upon donations, the amount of the scholarship will vary each year.
This award is given to an individual family member who has shown leadership in advocacy, support and education on the behalf of children, youth and families.
The Karl Dennis: Unconditional Care Award recognizes a person or organization that embraces the values of the National Federation and the philosophy of Wraparound and unconditional care. This person or organization may be a professional or professionally run organization.
